Novice Talk: Dos Dias

Recording artists are in the first line to be praised for the stunning nature of an excellent record or an album that transcended time. The quality an artist delivers however is not always done on their own.

Producers & Engineers are longstanding contributors to the essence of the sounds we hear. “Certified Gems” is a fitting description to describe the talent behind the boards and one name to be privy to is Dos Dias.

I want to do my best to stand out. The goal for me is to be the producer I know I am.

Raised as a musician, Dos’ adolescence allowed him to become multitalented. His early days were filled with singing, dancing, playing the saxophone and being apart of a band; These experiences of having to provide everything “in-house” was the catalyst to an incomparable evolution.

Engineering was always in Dos’ background and his ability to transition music allowed a star to be born. The notoriety began in undergrad within the Atlanta University Center. Dos detailed his first DJ gig being a “Hump Wednesday” by fortune, which is the social gathering after classes for all three campuses of Morehouse, Spelman & Clark Atlanta; The rest was history. He would take the campuses by storm; Being sought for all the major events and built a following around his crafty-skills on the boards.

The talent that lies within is built from a historical knowledge of music. As a DJ, his ability to mix a variety records one would not even think of along with seamless transitions, controlling the crowd, creates a phenom who stands out.

The transition from DJ to Producer was no overnight formula but more so, a thought while DJ’ing the hottest clubs that blossomed into real-life. Dos never shies away from giving praise and had no issue during the interview showing grace to the individuals who paved the way for him.

His first credits were on Young Nudy & Pi’erre Bourne‘s Sli’merre. From there , he would begin working with most notably, Summer Walker on Over It but has multiple credits with artists such as Dvsn, 6LACK, Ari Lennox, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Durk, & Latto amongst many more.

Dos detailed his relationship with DJ Marc B and their brand, No Sections. Understanding the party culture, they feel there’s a need for change and decided to take matters into their own hands. They hosted a stellar first event in November that was filled with joyous energy, creating a momentous occasion.

The 2-headed monster simultaneously DJ’s an amazing night where we witnessed an effortless chemistry. Dos confidently spoke about the vision for No Sections and what the future entails for them. There is a lot in store from two (2) of music’s best.

Overall, Dos Dias is a magician when it comes to his work behind the boards but it’s clear he wants to continue to push limits. Ending the year on a high note, he is a major playmaker to continue watching as time progresses.
