Bookmark 2 Signifies a Major Leap for Virginia’s Leading Voice

It’s a rainy weekend in Atlanta. Everything feels like it is moving in slow motion. The gray skies draping over the city with the rain beating against the windows. I have been looking for the perfect album to sit back and enjoy in the background while completing my weekend tasks. Mynameisntjmack just released his new project, ‘Bookmark 2‘ and I knew that would be the perfect choice.

Virginia’s hip-hop scene has been bubbling for a while now, and mynameisntjmack has proven himself as one of its standout voices. Last year he released one of the best rap albums amongst major and indie artists via ‘mynameisnt.’ Following up that performance must have been a daunting task but if anyone is capable of exceeding expectations, it’s him and that’s exactly what he did.

His newest project isn’t just another album—it’s a reflection of his growth as an artist and storyteller. With refined production, sharp lyrics, and consistent collaborations, this project solidifies mynameisntjmack’s position in the new era of music.

From the opening of “olympic”, ‘Bookmark 2′ makes it clear that the Virginia native is again in his element. The entire album feels intentional more so than just another sequel. His delivery throughout exudes the confidence we’ve seen him establish over the years. The live instrumentation and Jazz influence which have been prevalent in his evolution add depth to the music, making everything sound more immersive.

One of the biggest highlights of the project is the budding artist’s chemistry with frequent collaborator and Virginia- mate, Tommy Richman on the song, “chase”. The two have built a serious connection, and it has shown over time since the days of records like “BUNKER/PREROLL.”

Their collaborations feel effortless, like two friends just feeding off each other’s energy. That chemistry carried over to the stage too this year with mynameisntjmack joining Tommy on his 2025 Coyote Tour. One can only speculate if a collab-project is in the near future.

Lyrically, ‘Bookmark 2′ is one of the elite talent’s most personal. He dives into his ambitions, past experiences, and the weight of expectations with songs like “argue typing” , “Lemon/Ginger” and “american spirit” while still delivering with that slick style he’s known for.

He also masterfully paints a visual picture of the experiences he’s reminiscing about. There’s a raw truth in his words that makes the music hit on a deeper level.

One thing we can appreciate about mynameisntjmack is the love he has shown to Virginia in his music. This adds to the essence we’re so used to hearing as he constantly let’s listeners know how proud he is of where he is from. “cavalier” does a phenomenal job being the closing sounds as well as playing into an ode of the outstanding artist’s home state.

At its core, ‘Bookmark 2‘ is a statement. mynameisntjmack isn’t just another rapper from Virginia; he’s cultivating the sound of the next generation and pushing it onto a bigger stage. With every record, he shows that his music is about building something that lasts. And if this project is another “bookmark” in his story, it’s safe to say we’re excited for the next chapter.
