LIFEOFTHOM Talks Life Ahead of New EP with Star Producer Supah Mario
LIFEOFTHOM is one of those lyricists who answers the call every time he drops music and somehow gets better with each release. The New York native has become a prominent name in the underground rap scene because of his formidable presence, storytelling, and undeniable charisma.
It’s rare to find someone who puts out such a consistent level of quality the way LIFEOFTHOM does. His work ethic is unmatched, but what adds to his lore is the intention and detail he pours into the visuals that accompany his music. You can tell he cares, and that’s what separates him from most. It’s one thing to sound hungry, like every verse you write could be your last. It’s another to match that intensity with high-level visuals that give the audience something just as powerful to watch.
The rising star recently released an incredible project, Driving Blind, with legendary producer Plain Pat. He showed so much appreciation for Pat and this album as a whole.
Now, with 2026 shaping up to be a year where the masses are finally showing respect to the “New School” which is really a culmination of artists who have been grinding for years, LIFEOFTHOM is preparing to team up with legendary producer Supah Mario, who has been the mastermind for a number of hits from Drake,Young Thug, Lil Uzi and more, for an exciting collaborative EP.
The EP features some of the best beats and verses you’ll hear this year. We were fortunate enough to get an early listen. Grit and poise are two words that define the talented rapper, and they perfectly describe this EP as well. There’s no official release date yet, but “The World Is Yours” as the lead single has already set the bar high. You’ll be impressed by what this new duo delivers, and hopefully this is just the beginning of something special from the pair.
LIFEOFTHOM has been a name to know for some time, but 2026 feels like the year he enters a new kind of conversation, one he has more than earned. Novice’s Alex Cherry got sit down with the rising star to discuss his journey, his growth, and the upcoming collaborative project that could mark another major step forward.

LIFEOFTHOM Interview w/ Alex Cherry
Cherry: I’m glad we’re finally getting to sit down and chat. How are you?
LIFEOFTHOM: I’m great and blessed.
Cherry: Do you go back and listen to your older work?
LIFEOFTHOM: Absolutely. I remember watching an old Johnny Depp interview where he said he hates watching his own movies, and I told myself I never wanted that to be me. Why wouldn’t I want to listen to my old work? It inspires the present and the person I’m becoming.
Cherry: You work with many different collaborators, often one or two producers per project. Was that always intentional?
LIFEOFTHOM: It started that way and just evolved. When I first began making music, it was a collaborative effort with my boy Jackery. He was putting out a lot of records, and I did my first four-track project with him. After that, I spent a few years honing my craft, but maturing creatively with someone like Stoic brought a whole new perspective.
LIFEOFTHOM: Even when I’m producing my own stuff, if it’s not me or Plain Pat, I’ll link with someone who really understands my sound.
Cherry: As a producer yourself, do you want to fully produce a project for someone?
LIFEOFTHOM: Definitely. There are a few artists I’m in talks with who are doing their thing locally. Later down the line, I’d love to fully produce a project for someone like Nali, Lord Sko, or Yoshi T. That’s the dream right there.
Cherry: Through all the experiences leading up to Driving Blind, what have you learned about yourself?
LIFEOFTHOM: The importance of authenticity and being yourself. With each project, I’ve learned that the more in tune I am with my humanity, the more I can bring that back into the beats and the writing. I’ve watched this story build.
I’m inspired by being 100% authentic.
Cherry: How does it make you feel to be in these conversations about being a leader of the new school?
LIFEOFTHOM: It’s fire. I came in at a very interesting time. When I was really in the thick of it, I started to notice the shift after we put out “42ND ST.” with Lord Sko. It heightened my awareness of everything. We’re master MCs, but it’s an honor to be considered a face of the new school, especially in New York, representing real rap. Fergie Baby, Niko Brim, Kai Ca$h, those are my bros.
I had a conversation with Reuben Vincent recently. He said this is greater than us so we’ve got to pay it forward and that’s all I’m trying to do.
Cherry: You touched a little on Washington Heights. What does New York culture, especially Washington Heights, mean to you?
LIFEOFTHOM: Washington Heights is such an integral part of New York. It’s a crossroads. For the city as a whole, it’s super special because it represents something that’s here today and not gone tomorrow. New York is grungy, raw, and real steezy, and the Heights embodies that.
Cherry: How did the collaboration on Driving Blind turn into a working relationship with Plain Pat?
LIFEOFTHOM: I love Pat. That’s one of my closest friends. He’s the big OG. I met him on March 27, 2024, when I was working with James Burns. Around that time, Burns hit me saying Pat had reached out and wanted to work. Two months later, we were in the studio together. There was a consistency from the jump, and after some time passed, we realized we had a real body of work and genuine chemistry.
Cherry: What was your favorite song to record on Driving Blind?
LIFEOFTHOM: I want to say all of them, but my favorite record was “XO TOUR LIFE.” When we finished the first bulk of the project, we started mixing it and Pat brought in his analog controller. We caught this riff, and the song just started building from there.
I do this thing called “Verse a Day” where I’m writing a new verse each day. It trains the brain and gives me a chance to exercise my craft.
Cherry: What are some things you have to have while working?
LIFEOFTHOM: I’ve got to have a smoothie, you see it right here. Maybe some Halls too, but mainly just good vibes. I’ve recorded in some of the craziest places, so I’ve never really needed much. I just like being in the moment.
Cherry: We’re in 2026. We’ve seen the hints about working with Supah Mario. What is 2026 looking like?
LIFEOFTHOM: Without revealing too much, we’re going on a cool adventure called “Re-Routes.” I’m delivering packs that symbolize where we’re headed after Driving Blind. It’s going to be a year of back-to-back drops. It’s really about showing the growth of my humanity and the person I’m becoming. It’s going to be eventful.
LIFEOFTHOM: What’s next is a new tone with Supah Mario. It’s going to be an action-packed year.
Live, Laugh, LIFEOFTHOM. To all creatives, take a leap at life. We’re all Driving Blind to some extent to this day. Keep following the great spirit and it is going to hit full circle.
